Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Buccallo LLC, doing business as Whiskey Richard ("Whiskey Richard," "we," "our," or "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the WhiskeyRichard mobile application (the "App"). The App is intended only for users who are at least 21 years of age.

1. Information We Collect

Account and authentication information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and, if you set one, a password. You may also sign in using Google Sign-In or Apple Sign-In, in which case we receive basic account identifiers from those providers. Authentication and account data are handled through our hosting and authentication infrastructure.

Content you create

We collect the content you add to the App, including your whiskey collection, wishlists, tasting notes, and photos of bottles that you upload. Uploaded images are stored and delivered through our image-hosting infrastructure.

Camera

The App uses your device camera so you can scan or photograph bottles to add them to your collection. Camera access is used only when you choose to capture an image; we do not access your camera in the background.

Label reference images

When you confirm which bottle a scan photo shows, we may keep a cropped image of that bottle's label as a reference picture. Reference pictures are used only to recognize bottles in future scans (for example, to tell that a special-edition label and the regular label are the same whiskey). They show the label, not you or your surroundings; they are never displayed publicly, sold, or used for advertising. Reference pictures are deleted when you delete your account.

Receipt photos

If you choose to add prices from a receipt after adding bottles to your collection, the photo you take is uploaded to our image provider and sent to our AI provider to read the store name, the date, and the price of each bottle you just added. We do not ask for or keep anything else that appears on the receipt. The photo is deleted as soon as the reading finishes, whether or not it succeeded, and we do not store the text of the receipt. What we keep is only the store, date, and price you confirm on the review screen before anything is saved. Adding prices from a receipt is always optional — you can type them in instead.

AI inputs

The App uses AI across many of its features. Inputs you provide to AI features — including the messages you send to the in-app AI assistant ("Ricky") and the pictures or images you submit (for example, photos submitted for bottle scanning or identification) — are transmitted to third-party AI and image-processing providers so they can generate a response or result. Do not include sensitive personal information in these inputs that you would not want processed by an AI provider.

Usage, analytics, and diagnostic data

We collect information about how you use the App and technical/diagnostic information to keep it working, including for product analytics (how features are used) and for error and crash monitoring. This may include device and app information, event logs, and crash reports.

Purchase information

If you buy a subscription, the purchase is processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play and managed through our subscription-management infrastructure. We receive transaction and subscription-status information (for example, whether your subscription is active). We do not receive or store your full payment card details — those are handled by the app stores.

Tools and processors may change

The specific tools, vendors, and service providers we use to collect, store, and process the information described above may change over time as the App evolves. Additional uses and additional processors may apply, and the categories of information described in this section may be handled by different providers than those in place today. 2. How We Use Information

  • To create and secure your account and authenticate you;
  • To provide core features — your collection, wishlists, tasting notes, and bottle photos;
  • To enable the camera-based bottle scan/intake flow;
  • To generate AI assistant responses to your messages;
  • To process and manage subscriptions and purchases;
  • To analyze usage so we can improve the App, and to detect, diagnose, and fix errors and crashes;
  • To enforce our Terms, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.

3. Third-Party Service Providers

We share information with third-party service providers and processors that help us operate, support, and improve the App. Any of these providers — as well as others not listed here — may process your information for any of the purposes and use cases described in this Privacy Policy. We do not sell your personal data.

The platforms we currently use include, among others:

  • Supabase

  • Anthropic

  • Google
  • Apple
  • Cloudinary
  • PostHog
  • Sentry
  • RevenueCat
  • Resend
  • and other service providers.

This list is not exhaustive, and the specific providers we work with may change over time. Each provider processes your information under its own privacy and security commitments. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights, users, or the public.

4. Data Retention

We keep your account information and content for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App. When you delete your account or your content, we delete or de-identify the associated personal information within a reasonable period, except where we must retain it to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements. Analytics and diagnostic data may be retained in aggregated or de-identified form. Label reference images are deleted when you delete your account. Receipt photos are an exception to the above: they are deleted immediately after the prices are read, and are never retained.

5. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can:

  • Access and edit much of your content directly in the App;
  • Request a copy of your data or request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at legal@whiskeyrichard.app;
  • Manage subscriptions and purchase history through your Apple or Google account settings;
  • Control camera and notification permissions through your device settings.

We will respond to verified requests as required by applicable law. We do not sell personal data, so no "opt out of sale" is required, but you may still contact us with any privacy request.

6. Children and Age Restriction (21+)

The App relates to alcohol and is intended only for individuals who are at least 21 years old. It is not directed to and may not be used by anyone under 21. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 21. If we learn that we have collected information from a person under 21, we will delete it. The App enforces an age gate at sign-up.

7. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect your information, and we rely on the security practices of our service providers. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. International Users

Your information may be processed and stored in the United States or other countries where we or our service providers operate. These countries may have data-protection laws that differ from those in your country. By using the App, you understand that your information may be transferred to such locations.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, provide notice within the App. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
